My first reflection since returning my feet to Canadian soil: I feel so blessed to have developed human connections that withstand space-time, perpetuating the love that is held within us. After 2 days in Saskatoon, I instantly felt the pull to go to my favorite place in the world — Emma Lake.

The Northern Saskatchewan Lakes have always been a grounding place for me. Surrounded by forests bursting with new spring life, and time to enjoy the beauty of silence. I golfed the front nine at Emma, and though I have always enjoyed swinging a stick outdoors, it was definitely challenging not to let my ego ruin it.

Spending time in nature makes me marvel at creation and question the many versions of God (Spirit, Creator, Universe) that I have learned about. I have always wondered how someone could say that they, with finite consciousness, know everything about “God,” the infinite. This life is truly a mystery to be experienced.

God provides an endless source of love and compassion, and all that is required is to remember that you are a part of something much greater than you could ever understand.

“What we do in life echoes in eternity” (Maximus; Gladiator).

May Long Weekend, and it is time to jump in the water!

The weekend started for me on Saturday night after I finished my CPR update course and cruised up to my family’s cabin for a dinner party. I had several interesting conversations and really enjoyed speaking with our guests there, including Mike Babcock, Coach of the Detroit Red Wings. Together, we agreed that the most important components of life are the relationships in it and the stories that you create. What else is there?

Sunday was the traditional day of putting in the docks. I always appreciate having help to accomplish this, especially when the water is frigid. However, we had so many volunteers that it reached the point where productive numbers crossed into collective regression on intellect. If only we were taught more in school about the functioning of ants.

The pain in my shoulder had been building up as I had ignored the need for self-care, so before I took off on the next leg of my journey I had three treatments.

First was a massage. This physical release of muscles tension and stress was also a mental and emotional release of stored negative energy, and I came out of the hour of painful physical mediation feeling “lighter.”

The next morning I went to Armstrong’s Physiotherapy and received a Graston treatment from Curtis, an extremely talented physiotherapist. The Graston Technique utilizes stainless steel tools designed to break down scar tissue, and is increasingly utilized by Olympic athletes. I would recommend this to anyone looking for relief from residual desolate tissue impeding the natural movement of their body.

The last treatment I received was from Jody Baun at Myo-Therapies, where they target the fascia, an often overlooked and misunderstood system when assessing musculoskeletal problems. Since receiving this type of treatment, my awareness of the fascial system has grown to a new level, as my range of motion and levels of pain have dramatically improved.

After finishing my last treatment I decided to spend the rest of the day cruising around Meewasin trail, I am proud to witness the way my home city has preserved riverbank. There is no better way to show respect for life than to extend care towards the planet that allows everyone to share in this existence.

I met my Dad to explore the Dodge 1991 Classic Supreme, my home for the next 3 weeks. What a beauty it was, and seeing the excitement in my Dad’s eyes warmed my soul. That night was a classic family Sushiro event, centered around enjoying the visually stimulating sushi. After supper, it was off to Tasha’s dance recital to support her accomplishments in this sport, which has been a huge part of her life.

The start of the bro road trip, with my brother Reid and friend/brother Saud! Like always, it took longer than expected and a few extra stops to make it out of the city, but we finally made it on the road!!

The Classic Supreme cruises like a dream across the prairies, providing the perfect window to the pastel collage of purple to pink sunset.

Our mobile home created a comfortable environment conducive to intellectual conversation topics, or easy whole-body laughs that seem to originate in every molecule of your being. It’s always interesting to settle into a new home, remembering that your physical location protects your physical body, but it is up to you to create a focused mind and pure heart to protect your soul.

When I break away from the normal stream of current societal function (or dysfunction) again, and operate solely with the mission to experience and learn from the amazing universe, I become aware of how easy it can be to lose focus of your purpose my life. True purpose for me is when, in those quiet moments, my intuition observes a synchronicity between my “centre” and the outward action of my life.
